Canopy Bed, White Silk Draperies and Valances Create a Room Fit for a Queen
The client had this canopy bed when we met her, but she didn’t have any idea how she wanted it dressed. We used between 150 and 200 yards of white dressmaker silk to cover the canopy, the portieres, the Kingston valances and the draperies.
By using lining and interlining we added depth and weight to the fabric. Even though this job was time consuming, it was ultimately rewarding because it’s a large room and it took on a new life when we completed our work.
There is an antique lace table skirt with an underskirt of the white silk in the room as well. Later we added white silk table skirts as well. The dust skirt, made from a beautiful designer chintz completed the room.
